How do these spaces function?
Dance studios
The studios will all be available for rehearsals, classes, meetings, lecture demonstrations, workshops, panel discussions, and even academic classes.
Performance space
The main studio will additionally function as a convertible space for screenings, performances, and other events.
Library
Our unofficial library is simply meant for our store of DVDs, music, and books to be shared by all - some of us have flown all over the world and tracked down rare books that include talam patterns explained by old musicians or DVDs of old devadasi performances - priceless materials that we may all make use of in our day to day artistic experience.
Recording studio (on hold for the moment)
The recording studio obviously is to record tracks for both musicians and dancers. A mixer who will be paid on an hourly basis will be present at all such events and in non- use it will be rented out for music lessons and rehearsals. Subsidized and free space will be available for those who are interested in recording under the production of TANP.
Cafe/Lounge
The cafe is meant to provide a few basic necessities: a few sweets, rose water to drink, or perhaps some hot coffee and tea. More of a place of comfort and rest than a cafe to grab a quick bite and move on, this space is meant to enliven the studios around it by providing delicious food (even if it is one dish a day done well). The lounge is also for research, congregation, and relaxation - to come view a dvd in our library or read a book, and perhaps even attempt some work.
Additionally...
We will be displaying art for sale within the studios and/or cafe and lounge - so it truly becomes a place for artists of any medium.
